Retro Flair

I get so many compliments every time I wear this dress. I guess it has that wow-factor! It certainly caught my eye in the shop! I am a sucker for polka-dots and, combined with the retro style of this dress, it was hard to resist such a find. I seriously can't help styling it with retro touches, it's so hard to resist the temptation! Today, I opted to add pops of red with a bow-belt and cardigan. The red lips was a no-brainer and I have to admit that the blond curls are a nice touch. I don't know why, but to me, blond curls are very retro and a little bit pin-up. The fact that I am now blond just makes wearing this dress even more fun. I will challenge myself to style it in a modern-way next time, but I can't make any promises!

Red Roses

Happy Valentine's Day!

I wish you all lots of love and chocolate on this special day! I obviously had to wear red today, and could not resist adding rose-printed pants because you know, bouquets of red roses are abundant on V-day. Finally, I just had to wear my brand new red Hunter boots (a birthday gift from mom and dad)! Is anyone else wearing red on Valentine's Day? Or perhaps a red and pink colour-blocked look? I will actually wear a red dress to dinner tonight, we have a double date! I'll post that outfit in a few days. We are going to our favourite little place nearby for a table d'hĂ´te. I can't wait!

Sleigh What?

December is almost over, so that means my "wear-red-everyday streak is about to end... I hope I haven't turned anybody off of this gorgeous shade. You can never have too much of a good thing, right? That's how the saying goes? I decided to wear my red cable-knit sweater, for the umpteenth time. I paired it with my grey tartan wool mini skit and black tights. I couldn't resist wearing my black OTK boots, even if they are not winter-weather appropriate. Let me tell you, the salt does a number on these puppies! I just had to wear them today because they complete the look so well! This is a more sweet meets sassy look and... I slayed it! ;)

Crimson Sparkle

Merry Christmas every one!

I hope you are all enjoying the day surrounded by family and friends. This year is a more low-key Christmas. It's odd not being home (literally). I didn't do my usual decorating or card-making. I'm still making the most of the Holiday and am focusing on what's truly important. True, the decorations, food and gifts all contribute to the jolliness, but Christmas is all about family. I am grateful more than ever for them, because they are what makes it feel like Christmas, nothing else cuts it. I am already looking forward to next Christmas, when we will be able to host our loved ones in our new home. By that time, it will feel like home again. After all, home is where the heart is!

Now, on to the look! I wore my sequin mini skirt with a layered buffalo plaid shirt and red sweater. I know these pieces have been features a lot in December, but I wanted to make the most of my red clothing! This look sort of encapsulated the basics of my December dressing. A lot of red, black, shine and textures! I had added hints of white and pale grey to some of the looks, just to break it up a bit. I didn't over complicate things, and with a few keys pieces, I was able to create a capsule wardrobe for the month. It took a bit of planning initially, but boy was I happy I had plenty of outfit ideas to choose from during the busy Holiday season! Today's outfit would be perfect for Christmas day. It has red, some bling, a cozy factor and it's comfortable enough to sit around the fireplace drinking hot chocolate! It strikes the perfect balance of holiday-cheer and functionality! What would be your ideal Christmas day look?

The Bottom Line

I was bound to add some black and white stripes to my festive looks at some point... In comes the trusty pencil skirt! I can't help but think of candy canes when I pair red with black and white stripes, the image is so vivid! Since a cotton skirt paired with a cable-knit sweater can have a slightly more casual vibe than I the one I was going for, I simply added sheer black tights and a lot of bling to make the look worthy of this festive season. Sometimes, it's all in the finishing touches!

Candy Cane Crush

Ok, I was clearly inspired by the traditional red and white candy-cane for today's look. Why not get inspired by a classic treat of the season? I've always liked the combination of red and white, it's clean, crisp and the pop of red gives it just the right contrast! I layered a striped shirt under my red sweater because I only wanted hints of the stripes. I then kept the rest of the outfit very muted and understated with light grey jeans and boots. I have to say, the combination of pigtails and stripes is giving me strong elf vibes... 'Tis the season after all!
