Pea Soup Plaid

There is something special about wearing a piece my mom made. It really brings me back to my childhood days, when my mom made most of my clothing. I think it's safe to say that has probably contributed to my love of fashion... I always felt special because the clothing were unique to me and made to measure. I guess I got used to having things fit properly right from the get-go. There is something to be said for perfectly tailored pieces. I remember searching high and low for a red plaid skirt and not finding anything. So, my gut was to get one made. (My sewing talents aren't quite that developed yet.) This skirt is the most recent garment my mom made me. I had basically commissioned this plaid skirt and went shopping with her to pick the material. She did a fabulous job on this skirt and her meticulous print-matching skills are seriously on point! I get giddy every time I wear it as it reminds me of my mom, gives me all the childhood feels and I know that nobody else owns this exact piece! Exclusivity at its best!
