Mimi Takes Five - #71

ONE // Sweater Weather Sweater
Could this sweater be any more perfect? I mean, it's the quintessential fall piece. The beautifully stitched trendy hashtag is the icing on the cake of a great basic fall sweater. It was just too perfect of a piece to miss out on and I got it on clearance in the spring. Needless to say I've been patiently waiting for actual "sweater weather" to wear it and here we are, in the prime of said weather! The fact it's a neutral ivory only makes me love it more because it will go with every single fall colour palette I can possibly imagine.

TWO // Knitted Elephant
My husband and I started this little tradition of gifting our nieces and nephew with a handmade crocheted animal when they are born. Our youngest niece made her arrival in early August. My mom described a bit of her nursery to me and I decided this one would get an elephant (we already did a sheep, a hippopotamus and a monkey!) Turns out my talented colleague had made an elephant recently and was up to the task of creating another! It turned out so precious, she did an amazing job!

THREE // Printed Silk Scarf
The scarf obsession continues and this recent addition is perfect for fall! I love a good printed silk square scarf and, to be honest, the H&M ones are pretty darn good designer dupes. Sure, it's not Hermes, but it serves the vibe for way less money. I might invest in the real deal one day, but for now, this will do the trick just fine. I love the warm tones of this one with the cognac, gold and ivory being a match to most (if not all) of my fall outfits. It's such a great accessory to add to any look to bring it up a couple notches.

FOUR // Changing Leaves
I am so happy to finally enjoy the leaves changing colours! It's probably my most favourite thing about fall. Seeing nature transform right before my very eyes is awe-inspiring and magical. I consider myself very lucky to live in a place where there are falls and that I get to witness this breathtaking phenomenon year after year. This eloquent passage from Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery perfectly describes the month of October and my feelings about fall in general.

October was a beautiful month at Green Gables, when the birches in the hollow turned as golden as sunshine and the maples behind the orchard were royal crimson and the wild cherry trees along the lane put on the loveliest shades of dark red and bronzy green, while the fields sunned themselves in aftermaths.

Anne reveled in the world of color about her.

“Oh, Marilla,” she exclaimed one Saturday morning, coming dancing in with her arms full of gorgeous boughs, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. It would be terrible if we just skipped from September to November, wouldn’t it? Look at these maple branches. Don’t they give you a thrill—several thrills?

FIVE // Fall Plaid Coat
Speaking of perfect fall clothing, this coat is right up there with my sweater weather sweater. I can't get over the perfectly autumnal colour palette. The ivory, the yellow, the orange and even the indigo blue: it's superb! I'm tempted to match it to all my other colour crushes of the moment, namely cognac, brown, tan and camel. Basically, it would pop against any shade of brown. It will be the most appropriate coat for any and all of your fall activities. Next stop: the pumpkin patch!
