Mimi Takes Five - #72

ONE // Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canucks! I hope everyone gets their fill of turkey and quality family time this weekend. We are planning our little get-together tomorrow because my mom will be in town. We'll be gathering a small grouping of family and friends to celebrate all that we are thankful for and, of course, to have our fill of comfort foods! My sister will be bringing her famous pumpkin roll and my aunt is making her unparalleled sugar pie for dessert. However, the main attraction will be prepared by my personal chef. Let me tell you, my husband sure knows how to cook a bird! I cannot wait!

P.S. I will be pitching in with the sides, but will mostly be in charge of dishes and cleaning up. Such is the fate of the untalented in the kitchen. Oh well! At least I'll have a full belly doing it!

TWO // Houndstooth Blazer
I finally got myself a classic houndstooth blazer. I'd been looking for one for years and finally found the perfect fit and colourway! Blazers aren't always easy to shop for, but I tend to hold off until I find THE one. This year, is the year of the blazers because I've been finding a lot I love. There is something so perfect about houndstooth for fall and it goes with just about anything. It will be sure to give any look that right hint of countryside chicness. I even got the matching skirt and am in love with the look! I'll be sure to wear the two pieces together soon enough.

THREE // Outlander Trailer
I cannot say just how excited I am for the fifth season of Outlander! After years of my sister bugging me to watch it, I finally did a few weeks ago and totally binged the first four season in the span of a couple weeks. To say I'm hooked is an understatement! I've always had a soft spot for period pieces, love historical components and throwing in time travel is the icing on the cake. (The third Harry Potter is my favourite for a reason!) I realise I've not had to wait as long as other die-hard fans for the next season, but I am just as excited! I can't wait to be transported into the world of Jamie and Claire once more.

FOUR // Mustard Quilted Vest
Another year, another quilted vest added to my collection. These have been a staple part of my wardrobe for a few years now and I don't know how I ever lived without them... They are the perfect casual layering piece for fall and summer. I wear them with everything from sweaters, long-sleeve t-shirts, button-up shirts and even dresses. Their thickness is just right to provide you with a layer of heat without being bulky. I have a lot of colours, but didn't have a mustard one, and to be honest, I needed it. What, with mustard being a total colour-crush this fall, I couldn't pass it up! Plus, it will match with so much of what I already have.

FIVE // Fall Plaid Cape
Speaking of things I already have too many of but can't seem to stop buying... How perfect is the plaid and colour palette of this cape? I found it at Winners a couple weeks ago (actually, my husband pointed out the rack of plaid capes.) I think he regretted telling me the moment the words came out of his mouth! He realized his mistake, but by that point it was too late, he knew I wouldn't be leaving the store without one. Thankfully, they were all super affordable and the selection was great. It was love at first sight when I clapped eyes on this one and the rest is history! You can see it worn in this post!
