My Fair Layer

When it comes to layering, wearing a patterned shirt under a sweater is as basic and as versatile as it gets. You can't go wrong with a gingham pattern that picks up on one of the shades in the sweater, or better yet, that is in great contrast to the colour of the sweater. Basically, a gingham in any colourway is almost always a good layering piece. It's a timeless pattern and the simplicity of it makes it easy to coordinate with other clothing, without being excessive. Another great classic is the Fair Isle sweater. They are the cutest and come in a variety of colours, from basic neutrals to more adventurous brights. I currently have a beige and a black one, but think I might branch out and get a more colourful one next year. (I'll keep an eye out for them at Gap, they tend to have a great selection of knits.) Today, I decided to pair two timeless pieces for an easy, cozy winter look.

Jeans: Jordache (Walmart) | Shirt: Smart Set | Sweater: Old Navy | Earrings: Thomas Sabo (True Bijoux) | Boots: Bare Traps
