Mimi Takes Five - #42

ONE // St. Patrick's Day
Happy St. Patrick's Day! I don't usually do anything special to celebrate this day, but I do like an excuse to style a sartorial outfit or to go to the pub. I'm not a beer drinker, so there is no appeal whatsoever for green beer, but I can see why people like it. Although we have potential plans to go out this year, I'm more the type to eat a big bowl of lucky charms and buy a scratch ticket in the hopes I'll get lucky. It's not all leprechauns and pots of gold!

TWO // Emerald Headband
Headbands are totally having a moment and I'm loving it! I'm also stocking up on these beauties while the styles and varieties are abundant. Something else is sure to make its way into the trends soon enough, so I'm taking advantage of the current selections to build my collection. Ever heard the saying: if you like it, get it in every colour? Well, that's what I'm doing. It's easy for this particular accessory because I've been finding them at decent price points that aren't breaking the bank. I'm getting my fix before they disappear! This one is a beautiful deep emerald/teal shade. Not exactly a springtime shade, but I'll be happy to have it come the festive season.

THREE // Striped Sweater
I know, another striped sweater... But I don't have one like this, with the red trim around the collar and the different spacing between the stripes. It fits right in with my love for all things nautical and I cannot wait to wear it! It's a lighter knit, so I should be able to wear it in the spring or on cool summer nights. It will be super easy to style it with my current wardrobe and I'm sure it will get plenty of wear!

FOUR // Hand-me-Down Coat
First came the skirt and now my mom is passing down her hand-made coats! This is the first of two coats I lusted over as a child. My mom's always been creative and fashion-forward, so that combination gave way to the creation of many statement pieces. I've been wanting this coat for the longest time and I think I've asked about it a handful of times in the last couple years. Now that my mom is retired, she's finally giving in to my begging and agreeing to pass on her cherished pieces. As a kid, I couldn't wait to grow up and be able to fit in her clothes because she had the most enviable wardrobe! The day has finally come and the pieces get to be loved for another generation. This funky primary-coloured creation is what my outerwear dreams are made of! Merci maman!

FIVE // Mustard Scarf
My love affair with bandana scarves continues. I found this cute little mustard beauty at Nordstrom for a steal the other day. I'd been wanting one in this hue and, as luck would have it, it found me! It's the perfect fall colour and I'll be sure to get a lot of wear out of it at that point, but I will try my best to wear it before then!
