Mimi Takes Five - #86

ONE // 1 Year Wedding Anniversary!
Today marks the one-year anniversary of our wedding day! I can't believe 365 days have already gone by... I have to say that I had many moments throughout the Holidays when I thought of what I was up to at the same time a year ago. I was in the throes of wedding planning and the finish line was in sight. I still feel the same anticipation I felt last year. I've never felt anything like it before and don't think I'll ever feel quite the same mass of emotions I did then. Those emotions come back so vividly, especially when I reread this post! Looking back, I'm so happy I blogged about it because it's a memory like non other. I can't believe we pulled off a frigid, evening, outdoor ceremony in a full-on blizzard in the dead of winter in Canada. It still feels surreal at times. The weather is drastically different this year. It's so much milder and a lot less snow.  Come to think of it, the crazy weather is part of what makes this day so special and memorable. It just wouldn't have been the same this year. Thanks for showing up to the party, Mother Nature!

I'm sharing a post of a photo our amazing photographer took because I find it really captures the surreal feel of the day. This was my dad walking me down the aisle! Thanks again for the most amazing photos Christine!

TWO // Pearl Sweater
I snagged this gorgeous pearl-embellished sweater back in the fall and thought it would be the most perfect winter piece. The white colour, the beautiful pearl pattern and the bubble sleeves scream winter! I like that it's a classic with a twist and that means it will age well. I bet I'll be wearing this sweater for years to come. It's both classy and cozy, what more could I really ask for in terms of cold-weather dressing?

THREE // Unicorn Ring Holder
Speaking of wedding anniversaries, my husband got me this little unicorn ring holder as a "just because" gift. If you've been following for a while, you know that I've always been a fan of unicorns, so this ring holder is perfect for me! I chuckled when I saw it, but it really is a perfect fit. He also totally surprised me because I had though of getting a ring holder a few times, but never actually said it out loud... It's like he read my mind! Anyways, my tiny unicorn sits on top of my jewelry box and does a great job of holding my ring while I workout, shower, clean, etc. Who knew this little trinket would be so handy?

FOUR // Plaid PJs
Ok, I know this is a very festive PJ, but I really don't care. I get cold in the winter so I like to wear very warm pyjamas. I typically buy a new flannel PJ set every year, but resisted the urge this year. I said to myself that I had enough flannel PJs to get me trough the winter and very reasonably decided to skip the purchase. It wasn't without temptation through; I find it hard to resist festive prints! However, I'm happy I did because mom surprised me with this very festive polar fleece set for Christmas! Does she know me or does she KNOW me? Haha! I've been wearing it non-stop since I got it. This thing is beyond cozy and warm, it's like wearing a big bear hug. This makes it the ultimate weekend lounge wear, perfect for cozying up on the couch for a movie marathon.

FIVE // Party Night
We celebrated our good friend's birthday with a night out to the restaurant the other night. She's a recent friend, but it feels like we've known each other forever. We have so much in common and just click with one another! Our birthdays are just days apart, so we are both Aquarians (and I think that has something to do with the way we just click ;) We're like two peas in a pod and I wouldn't have it any other way! We had a great big family and friends dinner at a Greek restaurant and had a blast. The food was great, but the company was even better! We both come from big families, so it felt just right! Happy Birthday, habibi!
