Dots, Bows & Stripes, Oh My!

Really starting to get my style-mojo back! Having a little fun with layering and print-mixing today. I stuck to a palette of navy and grey for the most part. I had to sneak in a bit of red because, you know, February in a couple days... Anyways, back to the outfit. I opted for a striped shirt and paired it with a polka dot sweater. Now, if you've been following for a while, you know that I consider both stripes and dots to be "neutral" prints. This means they can often be paired with one another, as long as the size of the prints and the colour schemes complement one another. In this case, the stripes of the shirt are very tight, almost giving it the illusion of being a solid colour while the dots of the sweater are very sparse and small. In other words, the prints don't compete with one another, but get along well. The big neck bow is just icing on the cake, really. I added a bit more texture with the corduroy skirt and a pop of colour with the tights. I could have easily worn grey tights, but I wanted to be a bit more colourful today, so burgundy it was!
