Mimi Takes Five - #88

ONE // Polka Dot Swimsuit
We just got back from vacation, so I thought I'd feature a few of the items I wore in the past week. First up is this retro-looking wrap polka-dot swimsuit! I mean, isn't it just darling? Like something Marilyn Monroe or Debbie Reynolds would have worn back in the 50s. I'm all for that vintage vibe, but to be fair, the polka dots and wrap detail were enough to sell me on it! I actually got this swimsuit on clearance from Old Navy at the end of last summer and was waiting for a chance to wear it. Be sure to check back this week to see just how I styled it!

TWO //Pearl Hoop Earrings
I think I got these earrings at the end of the summer, but I'm not entirely sure. I've worn them a handful of times, but never talked about them here. I like a good statement earring, as well as good pearl earrings. Naturally, these pearl hoops caught my attention! They're a more trendy way of wearing pearl earrings and they were the perfect addition to my tropical-destination looks this past week! I have the white ones, but H&M currently has these blush coloured ones.

THREE // Bon Voyage Sweater
Another great end-of-season sale find was this graphic sweater! The Bon voyage saying literally makes it the perfect piece to bring on vacation. This year, Banana Republic has a very similar sweater, but with a different saying. I'd been waiting for the right opportunity to wear it and that was last week. This sweater was the starting point of the colour palette I chose for my vacation capsule wardrobe. I opted for mostly neutral pieces, a few prints and pops of baby blue and coral. Turns out, those were also prominent colours featured on our resort. That was a total coincidence, but I was not mad about it! I decided to wear my sweater for traveling, as it's a great layering piece to wear on the plane. We, indeed, had a bon voyage!

FOUR // Straw Bangle
A statement accessory is always a good idea. You didn't think I wouldn't be featuring a straw accessory of sorts, did you? It just wouldn't be me if I didn't add to my straw collection, now would it? This rattan bangle had been on my wishlist since this summer, but I never actually bought it. So, when I saw it on clearance for $2, I scooped it up right away. My waiting paid off! It's a pretty big, sturdy bracelet, but the neutral tone makes it the perfect finishing touch to all my hot-weather looks. I wore pretty much every day on vacation and think it will easily get as much wear this summer.

FIVE // Striped Swimsuit
No vacation would be complete without an abundance of swimsuits. I pretty much live in my swimsuits when on a resort, so am sure to pack one for every day. Yes, I bring a week's worth of swimsuits. I do this for a couple reasons. first off, I do not like putting on a humid swimsuit. I find my suits never fully dry after wearing them, so the thought of wearing the same one twice really puts me off. Also, I wear them for the better part of the day. You wouldn't wear your underwear two days in a row... Just saying. Besides, swimsuits don't take up much room in a suitcase, so I say bring them all! I made sure to throw in this cute blue and white striped suit in the mix. Another clearance find from Old Navy. I like the nautical vibe of the stripes and the lace-up detail adds interest. You really can't go wrong with a nautical-inspired swimsuit; they will forever be on theme!
