Mimi Takes Five - #109

ONE // Cherry Clutch
I'm combining two of my loves today: straw and cherries! How could I not get this adorable bag? It was basically calling my name! It's very lightweight and big enough to carry all the essentials. I can carry it as a clutch, or use the gold-chain strap to wear it on my shoulder. As cute as the little cherries are on the outside, I must say that I'm also loving the red gingham lining on the inside too! I cannot wait to style it! I'm brimming with ideas! I just love finding little gems like this one that immediately speak to me and my style!

TWO // The Handmaid's Tale - Season 4
Here is something to look forward to in 2021! I mean, I think it's safe to say we are all pretty much over 2020 at this point, right? This series is so full of twists and turns that keep me wanting to come back to see how it all plays out. It's by no means an easy watch, but some of the themes are resonating even more in our current times. I must say, there were a few moments of the COVID-19 pandemic during which I found myself making parallels to the Handmaid's Tale. The dystopian world created by Margaret Atwood is not too far off from a world we could one day find ourselves in... It's an unsettling though, but it's that unsettling because there is some truth in it. However, the lesson to take from it is to never stop fighting for what is right.

THREE // June Ipsy Glam Bag
This month's pouch is as colourful as it is inclusive and diverse! Thanks for embracing all shapes and colours, Ipsy! Beauty standards are such hogwash and I love that this brand embraces and highlights differences and individuality. Now to the contents of my glam bag. I love, love, love the red lip crayon and nail polish. This is a favourite shade of mine and I'm always happy to get new lip products and polish shades. Then, I got a couple cleansers (a tea tree and a grapefruit, which each smell amazing!), I got a sunscreen (perfect timing), an acne face oil (great for spot treatments, an eye cream (got to beat those fine lines), an overnight mask (great for a little boost) and a blending brush (for that perfect eye-shadow application). I'd say this was a great haul with products that are perfectly needed this time of year. Must protect that skin from the sun and keep it hydrated and blemish-free.

FOUR // Virtual Canada Day
Our country's birthday is just around the corner, but the celebrations are bound to be a little different this year. Being in the capital, Canada Day is always a big deal here. I came across this post the other day and see that Canadian Heritage is on the ball for planning alternate festivities this year. The usual midday and evening concerts on Parliament Hill will be televised on CTV and Radio-Canada for all to watch from the comfort of their homes. The ministry's also created little virtual activity kits around different themes to keep us all patriotically busy! Also, there won't be live fireworks this year, but a highlight reel of past celebrations firework shows will be televised as well. I hope everybody celebrates in a safe manner this year!

FIVE // Strappy Gold Sandals
I've always loved the versatility of gold sandals and was looking for a flat style to wear casually. I came across this lovely pair at H&M and took the plunge. Besides, you can't beat that price point! They are very easy to wear and super comfortable. I love that there is no strap to tie, which makes putting them on and taking them off a breeze. But, they are more secure than slides, which is what I was looking for. These sandals will go well with anything from a casual short outfit to a dressier option without a hitch. The gold colour gives them a bit more glam, for times you want to dress up but still be comfortable. No one likes wearing heels in grass, am I right ladies?
