Mimi Takes Five - #258

ONE // Barbie the Movie
Well, today's the day the much-anticipated movie of the summer is released! Truth be told, I wasn't all that excited about this movie at first, but as the incredible movie press tour progressed, it got my attention. They are really building the hype! I have absolutely loved all the Barbie outfit recreations worn by Margot Robbie throughout the press tour. I mean, she has literally embraced the essence of the doll and I'm here for it! I just hope the movie lives up to the hype that has been buzzing around it. I'm unsure how I feel about this as the plot could go one of two ways. However, I'm keeping an open mind and will surely go see it before long!

TWO // White Pleated Skirt
A pleated midi skirt is one of my most favourite silhouettes and I have a few in different colours. While I had a white faux leather one, I fell out of love with it and decided to let it go to a new home because I found a white chiffon one that I just adore! It's lighter and airier than the previous one I had and find it a joy to wear. I think what I love most about this one is that I can easily wear it all year round, it's a perfect basic piece to add to my wardrobe!

THREE // Snacks
I'm all about a great snack and came across these little combo packs from Black Diamond and Cracker Barrel. While going into the office has become more of a schlep post-pandemic (and packing a lunch has never felt more like a chore) finding new snacks makes it a bit more bearable. I saw these cheese combo snacks on sale so decided to try them out. While the concept is simple enough I could make my own, I like the convenience of the packages. I got two varieties and enjoyed them both! The first is more of a sweet and savoury option with the salted cashews and dried cranberries while the other is more for sweet tooths with tiny chocolate bits and graham bites. These were a hit and I would definitely buy them again!

FOUR // Another Puzzle
I've been in a real puzzling mood lately and am just powering through them. This most recent one was a mountain scene with buffalos right out of Grand Teton National Park. I actually did something a little different this time around. My usual approach is to start with the outer border of the puzzle, then filling it in. However, this time I started with the blue sky border and filled in the sky part, then worked my way down the image, adding in the side borders as I went. I suppose the very linear colours in this particular image lend themselves well to this new top-down approach. I'm not saying I would do this every time, but depending on the actual image, I might apply this technique in the future!

FIVE// White Bikini
Just like I found a red swimsuit I had bought pre-pandemic, I had also gotten this cute white scalloped bikini on sale at the same time. Anybody else buy cute stuff for cheap off season, then stashes it away and totally forgets about it when the right season comes around? I can't be the only one... Anyways, I'm happy I found these in time to wear this summer. They had been waiting to be worn for long enough! I wore this a couple weekends ago on our trip to the cottage. I love a simple white bikini because it's so versatile and can be styled with so many different cover-ups. However, I adore the simple added detail of the scalloped edges, it gives it a certain je ne sais quoi.
