I've had a Dorothy Gale costume in my idea folder for years! I've always pretty much had all the pieces in my closet but never got around to wearing this costume! I decided this was the year. Besides, my little black dog is the perfect Toto, no? I could not have asked for a better joint costume with my pooch. With Wicked circling The Wizard of Oz back into the cultural zeitgeist, I figured it would be great timing for this look. It's a very simple, straightforward costume. The essential bits are a blue gingham dress and red shoes. A ruffled collar white blouse is great, but any white top would do. I then also added white ruffled socks and tied baby blue ribbons in my hair, that I styled in double French braids. I then grabbed a vintage basket from my straw bag collection and that was the costume! The special appearance from my dog is really the crowing glory. Wouldn't have asked for a more realistic Toto! I just love getting into the spirit of the season and flexing my creative muscles to put together a fun costume. That's what Halloween is all about. I'm actually looking forward to joining my friends and their kids trick-or-treating this year. Haven't done that since the last time I trick-or-treated myself, so it's been a little while.
