Mimi Takes Five - #411

ONE // First Harvest
We got our first very tiny harvest from our garden this week. Two radishes were ready to pluck from the ground. How exciting! This is our first time ever growing radishes and it's pretty straightforward. They were a decent size and one was rather oblong. They also sported a beautiful purple shade. We sampled our tiny harvest and they were rather delicious, although they packed quite a peppery bite at the end there. I mean, that's to be expected with radishes. It's such a neat feeling to enjoy vegetables that you grew yourself in your backyard. I can't wait to see what else we get to harvest the next time. We've spotted a few pea plants flowering, so that looks promising.

TWO // Banana Raspberry Bread
I had a bunch of ripe bananas the other day and spontaneously decided to make a banana bread. The trouble was I had no recipe. A quick call to my mom and I obtained the required instructions. I don't tend to make banana bread and I think that's because I ate so much of it as a kid. But I figure enough time has passed that I can start enjoying it again. I swapped out the cherries for raspberries (because I had some on hand) and it turned out great! The raspberries give it brightness and a pop of tartness that really helps cut the rich sweetness of the loaf. My bread turned out great and was delicious. Mission accomplished!

THREE // Body Wash
It has been a long time since I got a non-seasonal scented body wash... I stock up on the fall and Christmas scents so I pretty much use one all year round. I like them and they don't hurt anybody! I just finished my Winter Candy Apple and opened this Sweet Pea bottle. I was all excited to tell my sister about this great new scent that I found. She then told me it's been around for ages and was one of the original scents from Bath and Body Works! Haha, oops, my bad! To be fair, I've only been regularly shopping there for the last six years or so. Anyways, it's a new-to-me scent and I'm really loving it! Having said that, I'm still very much looking forward to the fall stock dropping. It won't be very long now.

FOUR // Red Leggings
Last year, I got myself a pair of red leggings on sale. I only realized once they arrived that they were ribbed. Not that I minded the texture much but it meant the fabric had less stretch, making them not a great option for working out. I also somehow made a hole in them the first time I wore them. I was able to fix it and keep wearing the leggings. I wasn't sure at first how much wear I'd get out of red legging but it turns out I wear them plenty! For that reason, I decided to get another pair this year. These ones are a slightly brighter shade and are not ribbed, so I'll be able to actually do yoga in them, ha ha! What's really nice about these is that there is no front seam. This is revolutionary! I honestly don't know why that design change took so long, but the fit on these leggings is great. I'm happy I got more red ones!

FIVE // Sour Gummy Bears
We got a big bag of the Albanese sour gummi bears on a whim at the Homesense checkout line the other day. My husband was a bit wary about getting such a big bag because it's a commitment if we don't end up liking them. I reassured him that I'd see good reviews of Albanese gummies online so we took the plunge. Well, let me tell you, these turned out to be the best gummy bears we've ever had! No only do they have the expected sour sugar coating, but the gummies themselves are also sour. That was a pleasant surprise! They also come in 12 flavours and they are all delicious. Needless to say, we had no issues emptying this bag... We liked them so much my husband surprised me with another bag to bring on our upcoming camping trip. He's a keeper!
