Classy Overalls

Have I mentioned how much I love my black overalls? They've kind of been on repeat this fall... I decided to class them up a bit by pairing them with an ivory cowl-neck sweater! I though the superimposing of the straps and collar would make for an unexpected look. I really like it! Nude heels finished off the look and truly gave it that classy feel. I cannot get over just how versatile my black overalls have proved to be. They are quickly becoming a staple of mine!

All Out Overalls

This look strikes me as whimsical. My partner said it reminded him of some kind of vintage astronaut cartoon with the crazy shoulder pads... He has a vivid imagination! I guess the chartreuse sweater is somewhat martien shade, but I wouldn't go as far as saying it reminds me of the creatures. I felt that by pairing my ruffle-shouldered sweater with overalls would give of a very juvenile look, and then I added pigtails to drive the point home! I decided to just run with the theme today. I can definitely say I made a typical kid's look work for an adult. Who knew overalls were so timeless? Lol!

Prep With Edge

Jeans Friday doesn't have to be boring. Wear jean overalls and you'll be a step above the rest. I paired my classic black overalls with my new favourite plaid shirt. This shirt is sooo soft, plus I can't get enough of the navy/burgundy/grey mix this fall. Loving those cool tones! I dressed up my somewhat casual basics with edgy accessories. The burgundy hat was a no brainer and the grey booties, a shoe in! The pièce de résistance is of course this BLANKNYC grey leather moto jacket! How amazing is this coat? I absolutely fell in love with it the moment I set eyes on it! Plus, it was on sale! These are the shopping moments I live for. There is nothing better than finding that perfect item on sale! Girls, am I right?

Polka Dots and Plimsolls

Yay for overalls! I'm so happy I got these back because I remember how hard it was to find some sleek black ones. I decided to pair them with a polka dot off-the-shoulder top for an interesting combination. I really like the resulting look! A little edgy, a little playful and a little sexy. I decided to roll the cuff of the pant legs and wear my white canvas plimsolls to complete the look. I feel this would be a perfect look for a fair or even to go to Disneyland... I'll keep that in my back pocket! Although I wore this to work, I kept a bright red scarf warped around my shoulders to make it more modest. The scarf matched my lips so it was all good!

Sugar Rush

One of my favourite springtime traditions is to go to the sugar shack to get my fill of maple syrup for the year! We tend to gather a big group of people and proceed to stuffing our faces until we end up in a sugar coma... It's simple, pour maple syrup on everything in your plate and chow down! Believe me when I say everything tastes better with maple syrup! After the pea soup, eggs, potatoes, sausages, ham, oreilles de crisse, beans, pancakes and sugar pie, it's time for maple taffy! We roll ourselves from the table to the outer shed where we are handed a popsicle stick to roll our very own glob of maple taffy. There truly is no better feeling than sitting in the warm spring sun, licking maple taffy off a stick. A true Canadian experience!

Over and Out

I recently got to spend time with my niece: what a treat! I also happened to have dinner plans on the same day. How to pick a look that works for both engagement? I opted for my black skinny overalls because they are both kid-friendly and classy. I added a tribal-print knit overpiece to add an element of fun. I then completed the look with a beige t-shirt and beige socks. At the last minute, I dug out my scarf headband to tame my big hair and tied it in a bow on top of my head. I figured, why not go all out? I was going for a classy look with childhood inspired touches! I am quite the package after all! X D

Overall Polka Dot Print

A true country girl most definitely owns a pair of overalls! I opted for a sleeker pair. I chose a black, skinny leg, sip-front version that has a modern feel. Today, I paired them with a black and beige polka dot blouse and added a multi-strand pearl necklace to the mix. The outside look comprised of my trusty trench, a cognac floppy hat and black suede booties. To me, this felt like a quintessentially fall look. A modern twist on a classic garment!
