TBT - Riverdance

The hair, the skirt, the tights, the green: they all scream Riverdance to me! Trade out the boots for some black lace-up flats (or ghillies) and I would look like I belong on stage in the famous line. I remember receiving a Riverdance tape for my birthday in third grade and I watched that thing for weeks on end. I could not get enough of it! Forward a few years and I am still taking tap classes today. (Yes, I know Riverdance is not tap, but Irish step dancing is a similar dance style.) All that to say, I figured I'd share a very Irish-inspired look on the day before St. Patrick's!

Watch the Reel Around the Sun number to see the look inspiration in action!

Line and Dandy

When I bought this skirt, I never thought I'd wear it so often. I got it in the spring and haven't stopped wearing it since. Four seasons later, and I am still not out of ways to wear this little number. I we can say that buying striped items for me is a safe bet. I simply don't tire of wearing them! Plus, the basic black and white ones are so versatile the outfit possibilities are endless! Seeing as how fitted the skirt is, I gave it a more professional spin by pairing it with black tights and a flowy, black, bell-sleeved blouse. A little bling and voilà!

New Year, Same Mimi

I glitterally get get over these shoes!!! Although I wore this outfit to a traditional family gathering over the Holidays, it would also be perfect for New Year's! The gold pleated midi has "party" written all over it and don't even get me started on those shoes! I mean, they are the perfect gold-sequin Mary-Janes a girl could ask for! Dorothy's ruby version are great, but there is no place like home in my closet for these pretties! Seeing as I had enough shine and sparkle going on, I kept the rest of the look simple with a black flounce sleeve blouse, sheer black tights and a black and gold velvet waist belt. I added some pendant pearls for good measure and the look was complete! I am sooo ready for a new year. Sayonara 2016! I am definitely looking forward to a fresh start in our newly rebuilt home. Still waiting on a move-in day, but things are moving along nicely!
