Little Black Midi (LBM)

Today's look was accomplished by creative layering. I am actually wearing both a dress and a skirt! Confused? The top is actually a bodycon dress and I layered a full midi skirt over it. I wanted to wear a peter-pan collar top, but seeing as I don't have one, I decided I could accomplish the look by wearing my dress. I'm not saying this technique would work with every dress and skirt, but pairing a thinner, more fitted dress with a voluminous A-line skirt is likely doable. The bonus is that it adds a layer of warmth on the bottom, so is a welcome layering trick in the winter time. The other bonus is that people totally thought I was wearing a dress today. I had everyone fooled! It's definitely a cool tick to keep up your sleeve and maximize the wear of your thinner dresses during the cooler months. I accessorized my basic black combo with polka dot tights and burgundy everything. The belt is actually velvet, so this would be an easy way of incorporating the trend in your wardrobe without over doing it. The key is everything in moderation.
