Mall Wander With Mom

Now that my dress has been chosen, it was time to do some Mother-of-the-bride dress shopping. I will be having a winter wedding, so this time of year is perfect to shop for dresses that would work for that season. Unlike for spring, summer or even fall weddings, dresses appropriate for the winter climate are only available in store for a select window of time. I'd rather get a head start than wait till the last minute, or even till this time next year. Also, the sales are in full swing right now, so it's time to take advantage of it! It was just me and my mama. I had an idea of the style and colour I'd like for her and we started in the dress department at Nordstrom. We selected a handful of styles, tried them on and found the perfect dress on the fourth try! That was it! The colour, the detailing and the style were all on point. So that was it, it took us all of maybe an hour. Efficient shopping at its best. Like mother, like daughter!


It was a really sweet moment to share with my mom. I love that it was just the two of us and seeing her get excited was all worth it. She got to have a moment all her own and I know she will look the very best on my wedding day. It means a lot to me that she feels and looks good. I know it's technically my day, but my mom means so much to me that I want to include her in any way I can. This is my way of showing just how much I appreciate her.


On a side note, I was planning on wearing my mom's wedding shoes to my own. Unfortunately, they were too small (I have enormous feet...) I was really hoping they'd fit because it would have been such a sweet element to include. It's too bad, but I will try to wear something else of hers on the day.


Now to what I wore. I was planning on a long day of shopping, so dressed accordingly. I opted for leggings, a soft t-shirt, bralette and long open cardigan. Flat boots were a must for the hours (or so I thought) of shopping and a cross-body purse for the hands-free factor. It was also a weekend, so I was aiming for full-on comfort.
