Basic Button Down

There is something to be said about basics. They are basics for a reason. You reach for them almost blindly because they go with everything and are the perfect building blocks. I am a fan of white blouses and shirts (as mentioned in this post) and today's basic white button-down is as basic as it gets! It's a simple white cotton collared shirt. No bells and whistles. Although I do love a good feminine detail, it's refreshing at times to just have a timeless shirt. This one is ideal for layering under sweaters or blazers but can easily be worn on its own and be just as sharp! I kept my palette very neutral today and chose to pair my shirt with grey and more grey. The distressing of the jeans is in good contrast with the crispness of the shirt and the polish of the silk scarf. Add in some suede platform pumps, a taupe tote and voilà! This is a perfect early-fall work look. If your workplace is more conservative, switch out the jeans for darker, non-distressed ones and maybe add a blazer. That's the beauty of this type of shirt, you can switch around an outfit in seconds!
