Lots of white with pops of red and hints of tartan. Oh, how I love getting dressed this time of year! The basic pieces of this look are actually not Christmas themed; it's the accessories that give it that festive vibe. This just goes to show how putting together a holiday look can be simple. I say it's better to invest in thematic accessories that can be worn time and again throughout the holiday season than invest in holiday-only articles of clothing. Not saying you can't get any fun, glittery pieces, but adding fun Christmas earrings, red tights, glitter shoes and tartan bags to your wardrobe will go a long way in turning regular clothing into festive outfits. Today's look is a prime example of that technique in action. The hair bow, purse, earrings, tights and shoes are what scream Christmas. The dress, turtleneck and coat and just regular pieces of my winter wardrobe. They are great basic pieces, but that's what they are - basic! Great basics are the key to a functional wardrobe, but don't sleep on the fun accessories!
