ONE // Nutcracker
It's truly become a Christmas tradition at this point. I think this was my fifth time seeing the Nutcracker ballet in the last 10 years. It's one of my favourites and I don't think I'll ever tire of seeing it. Not only is the score familiar and nostalgic, but every company gives the production its own spin. Even though I've seen many representations, none have been exactly the same. It's the gift that keeps on giving! I had gotten a ticket ages ago and had made plans to go with two friends. As luck would have it, a family member was dancing in this year's show! I only found out two days before and was thrilled to have a seat very close to the stage to take it all in. It was a magical evening, as expected!
TWO // Striped Blanket
I love adding a seasonal blanket to my couch. Blankets are great ways of adding seasonal touches while also being a useful item. I'm always draping a blanket on my lap when I watch TV (and the dog loves snuggling with me), so a blanket gets lots of use. It's not just a décor item. For a few years, I've used solid-coloured fleece blankets that I'd swap out every season. However, I've found a few really good seasonal options this year. I hadn't set out to get a Christmas one, but my husband spotted this (subtle) festive striped blanket at Homesense and the moody hued perfectly match my Christmas décor colour palette. I'm more into the warm red, burgundy, evergreen and cream. This cozy, fluffy blanket is just perfect! The stripes also echo the peppermint candy bolster, so that's a win! You can't go wrong with a classic striped blanket!
THREE // Red Coat
Full disclosure, I already have two red coats... However, there was a gap in my wardrobe for a long, bright red coat as mine is a shorter peacoat (that was a hand-me-down from my mom). The other is a wrap style deeper, burgundy red. I needed an option that fit somewhere between the two coats I already had. Truth be told, I'd been looking for one for a few years now. I happened upon the perfect silhouette and shade of red at Ricki's and snagged it during a sale. It is perfection - exactly what I was looking for! This coat is gorgeous in person and has a nice weight to it, making it a good winter option and an even better one for the holidays! I already have plenty of tartan scarf options that will match it beautifully. I'm so happy with this find, it really is just what I was looking for! Be the pop of colour in a sea of dark coats this winter.
FOUR // Snow Globe Lantern
We used to have this great snow globe on a pedestal. It was classic and timeless. It was also mechanical so would light up and move the snow around, creating such an ambiance. I loved it. We lost it in the fire and have been looking for something similar ever since. Well, this year my husband surprised me with this similar lantern snow globe. It also contains a snowman, lights up and moves the snow around. It's different, but I love it just as much! He spotted it in the flyer and went to the store the same day to secure it. I was so touched and moved at his thoughtfulness. It also meant that he was the first to buy a new Christmas decoration this year, ha ha! He did great!
FIVE // Peppermint Creamer
After pumpkin spice season comes peppermint mocha season! I love adding some seasonal flavouring to my morning coffee and these creamers are the simplest way of getting that fix every day. While PSL holds a special place in my heart, peppermint flavour comes in at a close second! I also happen to love the peppermint/chocolate flavour combination. Naturally, my go-to flavour for any festive drink is something peppermint and/or chocolatey. I love the taste of the International Delight Peppermint Mocha creamer, it's like the holidays in a cup.
