ONE // December Ipsy
It has been months since my last Ipsy. I think the last one I got was the August bag. I've been skipping months because the bags were uninspiring to me. I like the flexibility of this subscription box! I was hoping for a cute festive bag in December and Ipsy delivered! There couldn't be a more Mimi-coded glam bag! The big red bow, the pink shimmery fabric and the candy-cane striped lining are so very me.
I'm also actually very pleased with the contents of this bag! It's great, everyday products that are perfect for the low maintenance, no-makeup look that can get you through the stress of the holidays. The facial scrub leaves my skin so smooth and followed by the vitamin C eye cream and the night cream makes for a great evening skincare routine. Just what you need for some me-time after a long day of festivities. Come morning, I keep things simple with a great sunscreen (this one is clear!), a lightweight eye cream, a swipe of brown liner, a barely there blush and a rosy-tinted lipstick! I'll be all ready to play in the snow and get my natural rosy cheeks while protecting my face from the sun reflecting off the snow. I really got everything I need to get me through the holidays without any fuss. Or, at least my skincare routine won't be fussy!
TWO // Festive Hair
I got my roots touched up and got my ends trimmed just before the holidays. It was good timing and I was happy to have my hair refreshed. It just feels nice and helped me feel more put together with all the hubbub surrounding the festivities. I also decided to get more red and gold tinsel, because, why not? It'll likely fall out by the new year, so I just went for it. It's Christmas and tinsel always adds such a festive touch. It looks especially good with a plaid hair bow!
THREE // Red Record
My husband is a big music person and has an extensive record collection. Seeing as we have two turntables in the house, I've gotten into the habit of putting on a record every now and then we I cook and clean. Over the years, I've started a small collection of my own. They are mostly Christmas themed or musical soundtracks... One of my most prized records in my Charlie Brown Christmas one because it's green! Well, this year, my husband surprised me with the Michael Bublé Christmas record and he made sure to get the red coloured limited edition version! I've loved this album for years, so now getting to listen to it on vinyl is a real treat! Very happy to be adding a red record to the collection!
FOUR // 12 Days of Puzzles
A few years ago, I got myself this 12 days of puzzles countdown calendar. I love it because it's something I can take out and redo every year. I diligently took it out with my Christmas décor this year. However, I've been struggling to find the time to do one every day or so. I managed to carve out five minutes the other day and selected a puzzle at random. I so enjoyed those five minutes! I've not lost hope on getting around to doing the other 11 puzzles and am thinking that during my break, it will happen. Besides we are currently in the 12 days of Christmas, so I'm not technically too late.
FIVE // Burgundy Bow Gown
I randomly came across this burgundy gown a few weeks ago. It was in stock at my local store, so I decided to go check it out in person. I was then bold enough to try it on and oh my goodness! It's the most comfortable gown in a beautifully rich colour with the most dramatic bow in the back. It's one of those dresses that looks unassuming on the hanger, but is showstopper when worn. The bow tails go all the way down the back and act as a type of train. I mean, it's simply stunning! Did I have a need to buy a new gown? No. But I also know that you never find a gown when you need one. So I got the gown and will trust that the occasion to wear it will present itself. It was a sign from the universe.
