Mimi Takes Five - #363

ONE // Fresh Pup
Brought the dog for her maintenance grooming and I think she feels relieved somewhat. Not that her fur was long by any means, but with the heat waves we've been having, I'm sure she felt warm a lot of the time. It's always nice to get her claws trimmed along with the face. I love her fluffy little face but I know it gets unruly when her fur gets too long. We also want to prevent matting as much as possible. Also, the shorter fur makes it easier to check her for tics. It is the season and we do check regularly. It's always nice to get a fresh looking and clean-smelling pup back! We should be good for the rest of summer now.

TWO // July Ipsy
It had been months since my last Ipsy bag. I like that I can pause my subscription or skip months, it's very convenient. I don't need products every month, so I gauge my needs and adjust accordingly. I really liked the design of the July bag, so decided to get it this month. I actually love every product I got - which is no easy feat! I'll start with my add-ons this time because these are the products I selected. First up, my tried-and-true toner in a travel size. A must have! Next, I got this hair serum; another much-loved product. I was running low so getting a replacement bottle was perfect timing. I was running low on cleansers so decided to try out this Glow Recipe one. I've loved this brand in the past and this gel cleanser lives up to the hype. My last add-on was this invisible sunscreen stick. No white cast is a game changer when applying stick sunscreen on the go. A must in every summer beauty bag!

My bag selection included this face scrub. It's just scrubby enough and leaves my skin extra soft. I also got a lip liner. Now I'm not really a lip liner girl, but this one matches my lips perfectly so I might actually use it! Speaking of lip products, this plumping lip water is nice. It's just a little tingly, so I don't think the plumping action is that intense, but it's a great clear gloss. Moving onto this liquid blush. The applicator is the game changer here. I love that it dispenses a little product at a time and the fluffy brush helps blend it in without having to use your fingers. The final product is this setting spray. I keep getting setting sprays in my glam bags for some reason. I don't use them much, but this one dried well and didn't feel sticky. All in all, this was a great glam bag! I got lots of old favourites, new seasonal options and even a product I wouldn't have picked for myself. Getting to try new products is the fun part!

THREE // Blood of My Blood - Season 1
Alright, I'm ready for this Outlander prequel series! With the eighth season of Outlander set to be the final one (even though we'll have two more books in the series), I'm happy for more related content. The new series will be a prequel and set before Claire and Jamie's story takes place as it will follow their respective parents' stories. While the author is working on writing this prequel, it is not yet ready. However, the new television series will be in part based on some of the content she's already outlined for the first of potentially three prequel books. I love a prolific author! Seeing as the series will be released long before we get any books, I'll get to enjoy it for what it is. It'll take me back to when I first started watching Outlander before I'd read the books. The trailer looks so promising and I think the casting knocked it out of the park. Outlander: Blood of My Blood is premiering August 8, 2025! I've marked my calendar and am ready to go back (in time) to Scotland! I've heard rumours that Outlander season 8 should come out after the prequel series so I'm hoping for a fall date. In the meantime, this will hopefully tide me over.

FOUR // New Tree
We did a thing. We bought a tree for the backyard! I'm so excited about this addition. We get full sun in the evenings and it gets so hot in our backyard. We'd been wanting a tree for a few years and had actually attempted to try growing one ourselves. A neighbour had given us a sapling that was growing in her flower bed. Our tiny tree survived two winters, but then just died this spring. We decided to shift gears and go to a nursery to buy a stronger tree. We settled on a sugar maple and when I tell you I couldn't be happier about that choice, I'm not kidding! My fall girl heart is bursting with joy at the prospect of seeing our little tree in all of its autumn glory! We specifically picked a sugar maple based on the colours it turns in the fall. It was all part of the plan. It's been planted in the backyard and is already providing us with a bit of shade. It'll be a few years until it's full grown, but I'll be enjoying every minute of this tree. Getting my own maple tree is checking off a fall thing I didn't even have on my list.

FIVE // Ruffle Socks
When I was a kid, my mom used to put me in the cutest little white ruffled socks with my Mary-Jane shoes. I've always thought it was such a precious detail. I was recently reminded of these socks and saw that they are trending again for adults. Needless to say, I ordered some as soon as I found a pair I liked. I plan on styling them this early fall with some cute patent shoes ranging from Mary-Janes to loafers. I love the preppy-meets-girly vibe and think they will add just the right detail to many of my fall looks. Keep you eyes peeled for these ruffles beauties!
