I wore this outfit a few years back to the ballet! I mean, how could I not wear this tulle dress to the ballet? It's blush pink, has a layer of crinoline and looks cute when I twirl. Yes, I really twirled when wearing this... I got the same feeling every little girl gets when they put on a pouffy dress. I made it look more put together by adding a black blazer, tights and tall boots. I might have felt like a kid, but I still like to look like an adult. You really can have it both ways if you are crafty in your dressing! I never really grew up, in my mind I'm still that little 8-year old girl mesmerized by ballerinas...

Holly Daze

I must have been in quite a daze today to wear these little booties, as I only realized once I was outside that is was freezing rain... As cute as the footwear looks, it is entirely unpractical in the icy outdoors. I literally skated to the bus stop, and must admit, I probably looked like a waddling penguin. Needless to say, I took my time and made it there without any casualties! I bet I would have been better off wearing these booties in the snow. Anyways, with the Holidays just around the corner, I was inspired by holly for today's outfit. The teal and burgundy are a fun combination, and a festive one at that (should you be ok with stretching it a bit with the teal shade as opposed to the forest green). My cute floral tights reminded me loosely of the shape of the holly leaves and figured they were right on theme! Are you fans of wearing the red/green colour combo around the Holidays?

Leather Lovin'

Some days just start off on the wrong foot... I made a run in my tights first thing this morning and knew it would be one of those days. I figured I'd wear a witty graphic tee to make my mood known to all. If you want to have a good day, please avoid crossing paths with me (said in the most tactful way possible). In comes the "Be nice or go away" shirt! It's straight to the point, and tells it like it is! Plus, I don't actually have to utter a single syllable! Seeing as I was feeling a little less goody-goody today, I figured a leather mini skirt and back-seem tights fit the bill. I added a black blazer and pumps to tone things down a bit and give the look more structure for work. Let's just say, I was ready for happy hour once 5 o'clock came around!

Somber Ceremony

 

Saturday was a very productive day. We finalized cabinet choices and visited the plumbing store for our final bath and shower picks. We then attended the funeral of an extended family member. These gatherings are never easy, but always have a silver lining. They tend to end up in a sort of family reunion, where everyone reminisces about the good times spent with the now departed. We have yet another angel looking down upon us. After our ordeal this past summer, I firmly believe our departed loved ones look out for us from above. I personally still speak to my grand-father whenever I'm going through a tough time. I was very young when he passed and I've always regarded him as a guardian angel. It helps to share your innermost thoughts with someone you once trusted. I know he will always lend a listening ear, even if only figuratively. I often feel his presence and it is truly comforting.

TBT - Sweet Shirtdress

These Throwback Tursday pictures will be bitter-sweet from now on because I will be featuring clothes I'm not sure will be salvageable. A specialized cleaner came by the house to collect all clothing for a deep clean. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that all of it will be salvaged. Some clothing items were in the rooms most affected by the fire, so there is no saying what has been spared. Only once the cleaning process is complete will I get a list of items damaged beyond repair. Right now, I'm in a bit of a limbo as to the status of my specially-curated wardrobe. I realize it's petty to be so attached to material things, but I'd be lying if I said it was easy to detach from my clothes. I'm taking it step by step and take solace in the thought of being reunited with parts of my collection. For now, I will not mourn any potential losses and will rather focus on the hope that some will come back. I believe in the power of positive thinking!

More or Less

Some Mondays are harder than others. Especially when you think winter is over, but wake up to a snow-covered ground on April 11... Here I was, hoping to finally put away my boots and start wearing cute shoes again. No such luck today! I automatically reached for my black OTK boots and paired them with a black blazer and grey t-shirt. Drab, monochromatic look it is today; to match the weather, of course! The "Less is more... more please!" saying rings true as it is exactly how I feel. Less snow, more spring please! Here's to hoping the message was received loud and clear!

TBT - Distressed Diva

Distressed denim can be worn in a more formal setting. It's all in how you style them! I paired mine with a silk and lace camisole and a structured fishtail blazer. I added a few bits of jewelry in silver and finished off with black suede booties. This outfit can take you from the office to drinks and everything in between! Casual Friday never looked so good!
