Making Waves

This look is totally ocean-inspired! Why not pair a quirky graphic T about boats with a seahorse-print skirt? I love a good theme! This shirt is so cute, it says "Whatever floats your boat", the perfect summery saying. Isn't that what summer is all about? Just doing whatever you feel like and whatever makes you happy. It can even have a dual meaning if you enjoy boating! I also plan on wearing this t-shirt the next time I go for a boat ride. Yes, I'm going to be that person... I bet it will pair well with my boat shoes too!

Skirting the Trend

I love it when trends cycle back around! I dug up this cute little flutter-sleeve top from a few years ago and it fits right in with the trend of the season. I knew I hung onto it for a reason. I decided to pair it with my midi printed-skirt for a dose of colour. Throw in studded flats and statement earrings and you've got one fun and flirty springtime look!

Clad in Plaid

I love the plaid skirt my mom made me! She's the best mom in the world! Who wouldn't like bespoke pieces? I am so grateful to have such a talented and generous mom. I decided to wear my skirt in a casual way today by pairing it with a graphic tee and denim jacket. Although I wore the black flats indoors, I ended up trading them for my red rubber boots outdoors because it was pouring! Turns out, they matched my skirt perfectly and I totally found myself feeling very Scottish... It's in my genes after all! This was a fun way to style my skirt and wear it other than during fall and around Christmas time. I tried something out of the box and am very happy with how it turned out!

Mimi's Back!

Words cannot express what it feels like to be wearing my own clothes again! Today is the first day I get to wear an outfit comprised entirely of my own clothing. I had a shipment delivered over the weekend and was like a kid on Christmas morning! It took me no time to sort through it and hang it in the closet. Who knew I'd be so excited to see stuff I've been wearing for years? The old saying that absence makes the heart grow fonder definitely applies to me and my clothing. We're tight! Now, I don't yet have all of my closet, but I figured I wouldn't be needing summer stuff in the foreseeable future. I also have not gone through the many boxes of unsalvageable clothing yet. I think I will want to take my time and mourn, so to speak, the pieces that did not make it. I think seeing the items with my own eyes, seeing what state they are in, will help me accept the fact I no longer have them. I personally feel the exercise will give me some sort of closure. It will also allow me to make a list of things I will want to replace. But for now, I'm thoroughly enjoying the clothes I do have! It has never been more apparent to me that wearing something you love, gives you that extra boost of confidence. I am definitely smiling from ear to ear. My partner said it best when I came down the stairs today. He said: "You look like yourself again!" I could not have said it better myself! It's the small things!

Just Keep Swimming

So I ended up going to Simons for the first time in my life. I know, it's hard to believe, but it's true. I was so happy when I found this adorable seahorse-print skirt! I've always had a soft spot for seahorses. For a long time, when I was younger, I use to say the seahorse was my favourite animal. I was also fascinated by the fact the males of this species carry the eggs! Anyways, this voluminous skirt is cheerful and whimsical. I dressed it up a tad with my new black wedges (which happen to be my only work-shoe for the time being) and a white t-shirt, seeing as I had to attend an information fair at work. That's right, second day back and I'm as busy as can be. It's probably better that way, it serves as a great distraction. The blue of the seahorses remind me a little bit of Dory. A fish who's motto has never rung so true to me: Just keep swimming! Such a wise fishy. True words to live by!
