Wraped in Silk

Who says a silky wrap dress is reserved for nighttime only? I like to get more mileage out of my evening pieces and this time of year is perfect for that because layering options have amazing transformative properties! It happened to be the first really cold day of the season, so I grabbed my black turtleneck, some coated leggings and went for the wow-factor by finishing the look with a burgundy silk wrap-dress. I added statement earrings and OTK boots and was totally feeling this outfit! The casual, yet dressy vibe of this look would be perfect for so many upcoming holiday festivities such as date night, happy hour, going to the ballet, or even a family get-together. I love that the layering keeps me all covered, yet the dress, while emphasizing my shape, gives the illusion of being a bit daring. So you get the look without all the worrying about the dress staying put. No wardrobe malfunctions here! On second thought though, I would probably use double-sided tape to keep the dress from sliding against the sweater. Totally an easy fix! The shiny dress really pops against an all-black backdrop. I will be keeping this option close at hand in the coming weeks. You never know when an unexpected invite will arrive!

My actual dress is sold out, but I've linked the exact same in the silver colour. I've also linked a bunch of similar style in the widget below. It's all about textures this season, so the silk, velvet and lace options are all in!

Dress: Leith (Nordstrom) (other colour) | Turtle neck: RW&CO (similar) | Leggings: Dynamite (similar) | Earrings: Sole Society (similar) | Scarf: (old) (similar) | Headband: Aldo (similar) | Mittens: Dynamite (similar) | Coat: Via Spiga (other colour) | Boots: Steve Madden
