Busting Out the Red Plaid!

Ok, I figure that now is about the right time to start transitioning into festive-season dressing. I'm not saying bust out the sequins and rhinestones just yet, but start slowly like incorporating more red, green, and textures like velvet and suede. I, of course, am also ready to switch into my festive plaids! How amazing is this blazer? I was so happy to snag it in the last couple days of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in July after one in my size was magically restocked! The quality is amazing and it is so well made the plaid matches at all the seams. That's what happens when your mom sews, she teaches you to make sure the prints are properly lined up on clothing before buying. (Yes, I'm that crazy person in the store checking all the garments for seam matching...)

Anyways, I thought it was time to take this blazer out for the first of likely many times this year. I mean, to me, it screams Christmas! But, I also know that I can easily tone that down by styling it strategically. I figured I'd start with what I know and turned to the nautical style! I wanted the blazer to be the statement piece (how could it not?), so wore a basic base layer of a striped top and black sailor pants. Simple enough. Then I added the blazer and red everything! I absolutely love this look! It's got a bit of print mixing, a statement-worthy piece, lots of gold buttons and a bold red lip. What is there not to love?
