Velvet Eve!

Wearing all the velvet and glittery gold pieces today! It's almost Christmas (or pretty much is if you're French Canadian!) That's right, we always celebrate on Christmas Eve in my family. The reasoning is that we have a late midnight dinner called le réveillon and that usually lasts well into the wee hours of the night, so basically the 25th! We then figure, why not open presents now, while everyone is awake and feeling merry? With full bellies and hearts, we then go off to bed and get to sleep-in on Christmas morning. We then laze around all day before having a big turkey dinner. It's tradition and I like it! Sometimes we even squeeze in an late night mass before the réveillon, schedule permitting. As kids, this is when Santa would swing by and drop off all the gifts ;)

We are celebrating Christmas at the farm this year (my childhood home) with as many family members that can make it. My niece and nephew will be there and I can't wait to see the magic of the holiday through their eyes! We'll be missing my older brother and his family, but we'll be sure to have a very loud family phone conversation! I'm looking forward to spending lots of quality family time, making more memories and stuffing my face full of my mom's baking! She said she made something like 16 desserts, so I've got my work cut out for me!

I actually wore this full velvet look last week, but I'm posting it today because it would make a perfect réveillon look! It's so soft and sumptuous, ideal for a fancy evening spent surrounded by loved ones! I can easily move around in this and play on the floor with the kids, while being dressy enough for a fancy meal. The gold accessories really pop against the darker shades and are well suited to the festivities. A little sparkle goes a long way!
