Mimi Takes Five - #80

ONE // The Nutcracker
Ah, the ballet! To me, there is noting more magical than watching a ballerina perform on stage. I grew up dancing and am always in awe of the strength and poise these dancers demonstrate. They make it look so effortless, but I know too well the hard work and determination that goes into putting on a stellar performance: it is literally blood, sweat and tears. I let myself get truly transported during a ballet and that escapism is what I love most of all. Being the Holiday-Holly (just made that up) that I am, the Nutcracker is undeniably one of my favourites. I take great pleasure in catching this show as often as I can. Even though I know it through and through, I get sucked in every time! I bought tickets with an aunt back in August and can't believe it's already show time! The Royal Winnipeg Ballet was the performing ensemble at the National Art Centre this year and their rendition was as magical as ever, including slight Canadian twists!

TWO // Glam Headbands
I'm upgrading my headband game and added these glittery beauties to the bunch! I spotted them at Zara about a month or so ago and fell in love. The sparkle is real! These bad boys really catch the light and I feel like a literal princess wearing them. So, you can imagine my delight when I spotted the Duchess of Cambridge donning the black one! It basically got the royal seal of approval and that is good enough for me! The gold one is even more regal and statement-worthy than the black. I mean, this piece is stunning in person and totally gives me Tudor vibes. Big headbands are in and I am stock-piling them before the trend dies out once again. I need a solid reserve because you can bet that I will be wearing these for the rest of my life!

THREE // Cookie Decorating
We've been offering a cookie decorating activity at work to help de-stress students during exam period. It's an activity I've been looking forward to for a few years now and ended up helping out my colleagues this year. One baked the cookies (she's our resident baker), the other organized the activity and made the icing and I helped out during the activity. We like to get creative and use paint brushes, which adds a certain level of difficulty! I really enjoy this and do find it to be quite relaxing! I might not be your girl for the baking part, but I'm all in when it comes to the decorating (and eating!)

FOUR // Red Bow Hoop Earrings
I had been eyeing these J. Crew earrings for a couple years and finally snagged them on clearance at the end of the season last year. These bow hoops are perfect for the Christmas season and add just the right festive touch to any look. The red ribbon is simply perfection!

FIVE // Christmas Card Mail-Out
I have finally gotten around to finishing my Christmas cards! I started making them back at the beginning of November. I finished making them in about two weeks, but just wasn't getting around to writing them! This seems to always happen, I start out all excited to make them but run out of steam when I have to actually finish them and mail them out. Addressing envelops is so time-consuming! Haha! Anyways, I dropped them off at the post office today, so everyone should get them in time for the Holidays!
