Mimi Takes Five - #264

ONE // Back to Hogwarts!
Happy September 1st, or as we wizards like to call it, Back-to-Hogwarts day! While I won't actually be riding the red Hogwarts Express to kick-start another term at a magical school, I do get that first-day-of-school excitement. To me, September first feels more like the start of a new year than January 1st does. It's the start of my favourite season and just fills me with excitement at what's to come in the next months. So many things to look forward to and holidays to anticipate, and let's not forget that comforting feeling the season also brings. As in years past, the Wizarding World has organized plenty of activities to celebrate Back to Hogwarts day. Be sure to catch the live feed for the traditional 11 o'clock countdown!

TWO // Blush Ballet Flats
I can't resist cute flats. The closer they look to real ballet slippers, the better. It appeals to my childhood dancer heart. These blush squared-toe Mary-Jane style flats fit that bill perfectly so I naturally had to get them. I love a cute flat in a solid colour as I find it to be a very versatile and comfortable footwear option. I wear flats with everything from jeans to cropped dress pants, skirts and dresses. I also find them great options to wear indoor if you want something dressier than slippers. They can be worn all the time! It will take all my might to resist pairing these beauties with my tulle skirt...

THREE // Sunset Boat Cruise
Last weekend, my husband suggested we go for a little sunset boat ride. I hadn't been on the boat all summer! Between our trip at the beginning of the season, the rainy and windy weather, and changing vehicles (to which we had to add a hitch), it took a while before we could tow the boat. We picked a great evening! There were almost no clouds in the sky, the sun was bright red and we even saw a hot air balloon and two sky-divers. I mean, we couldn't have asked for a better setting! The puppy tagged along and was very content sitting between us and enjoyed the wind in her face the whole time. I'm happy the summer didn't end without making out on the boat at least once!

FOUR // Satin Hair Bow
I've been wearing this oversized satin hair bow on repeat since I got it this summer. It's such a perfect wear-with-everything bow! It's classy and timeless, without being overly fussy or trendy. Such is the nature of Grace & Grandeur bows! I'm sure I will be wearing my collection for the rest of my life, and that's not an exaggeration. Literally every one of my looks can be completed with the simple addition of a statement hair bow, even the simplest of looks are instantly elevated. A neutral, satin effect bow takes the cake in my book.

FIVE // Comforting Teas
I've just dug out some of my favourite comforting tea flavours for fall. I want all the warm, spicy flavours of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and chai. I'm also leaning into apple, pumpkin, chocolate, coffee, and nutty notes. Luckily, I still have a decent stash of autumnal teas from my David's tea subscription to choose from. Some I like on their own, but I find a lot of fall tea flavours work well as tea lattes if you want even more comforting richness in a cup. With cocooning season at our doorstep, I plan on snuggling on the couch with a warm cup of tea as often as I can.
