ONE // London Fog Rolls
I love coming across a new recipe when scrolling social media. It's both a blessing and a curse because I love finding new things to bake but once I've decided to try it I think of nothing else... The minute I saw these London Fog Rolls, I knew I wanted to make them. I had everything on hand but culinary lavender, which proved harder to find that I thought it would. After looking in a few places, I ended up at Bulk Barn and found just what I needed! Now, I could finally bake these perfect springtime rolls. I'm no stranger to cinnamon rolls so was pretty comfortable with the technical aspects of this recipe. I used David's Tea Cream of Earl Grey because it's a superior blend. I omitted the heavy cream because it really adds nothing but sogginess to the rolls. These rolls came out beautifully moist and gooey without it. Finally, I ground my lavender and decided to warm up my butter to infuse it. After a few minutes, I strained the lavender and ended up with a beautifully fragrant butter. I wanted my frosting to be smooth and this approach worked beautifully - all the flavour without the gritty bits. All in all, this recipe is a winner! Will definitely make again and again. If you love a London Fog latte and cinnamon rolls, then this treat is for you!
TWO // Fresh Hair
It was time once more to go get my roots touched up. I find the white hairs are coming in quicker now so my hairdresser said it was finally time to switch to the grey-coverage formula... I mean, it is what it is. I know I've got white hair and I'm ok switching to a colour that will actually cover them better. I'm not ready to embrace the white hair yet. In the meantime, I asked for some hair tinsel to make the whole experience a little happier. I opted for pink and even blue! I've never gotten blue tinsel before and was hesitant. Ultimately, it's giving Easter pastels and I'm ok with that! I'll be wearing lots of light pink and blue so it will all work out in the end!
THREE // French Hair Pin
Speaking of hair, I recently acquired this fancy French hair pin. While I love a good hair claw as much as the next girl for a quick updo with staying power, most of my hair claws are not, shall I say, refined. I've been trying to incorporate fancier hair accessory options these past few years. I'm a fan of the hair sticks (which are the perfect replacements to pens or pencils while at the office). Similar to the hair stick, the French hair pin has two prongs and is fashioned in a similar way. Both involve twisting and tucking the hair in similar ways to then secure with the pin. The easiest, in my opinion, is the French twist. Once you get the hang of it, it's a very simple twist, pin and done situation. The bonus is that it looks incredibly chic! I also find tucking a hair pin in my purse is easier than carrying around a hair claw. I love the sturdiness of this metal French pin with the wavy prongs as I find it holds a bit better.
FOUR // Red Sports Bra
I am in dire need of some new sports bras. I've been putting it off for a while now and decided to just get one to try it out. This is a new style/silhouette and I wasn't sure if I'd like it. But I just needed to get one and try it out already. I settled on this red colourway and got the bra on sale. I always have a hard time spending money on sports clothes even though they are the items that get the most wear, go figure! So I do find this new style comfortable and like the adjustable straps. The straps are, however, thin and I'm not sure they'll be supportive for that long. The band is comfortable and I do like the thickness of the overall bra. I tend to prefer a racerback style but so far this style has been alright. This bra is perfect for yoga and Pilates, and it fared well during a high-intensity tap class, but I'm not sure if I could go running in it. I wasn't sure about sizing so went with the larger option but think I'll get one in a size smaller for comparison. Why is shopping for sports bras so hard?
FIVE // Harry Potter Series
The teaser for the new Harry Potter series dropping feels like my eleven-year-old self finally receiving my Hogwarts letter! The giddiness and excitement I'm feeling is the same I had back in the day when the first movie came out. While I think the original movies and cast were amazing and great in many ways, I'm ready for a retelling with a fresh interpretation and cast. What I'm most looking forward to is simply the quantity of content with regard to bringing to the screen more of the original book content. Heck, I'm even open to some world-building and adding even more tidbits of story we could only have imagined. I forget where I read this, but rumour has it that we might be getting to see Hermione receive her Hogwarts letter and bits of Draco's life at Malfoy Manor. I also saw that then entire series was dropping as a whole rather than in a weekly episode format. I am all here for this! Christmas 2026 can't come quickly enough - this is the gift we've all been waiting for!
