Lazy Layers

While the vacation was great, and I fully disconnected and recharged, it does come to an end. For us, that meant straight back to a reality of unpacking and construction. As I mentioned before, the house was not entirely complete when we moved in. The day after we got back, the stair railing was being installed. This meant a lot of sawdust! My priority that morning was purchasing a vacuum. With a never-ending list of things to get for the home (including all furniture), it's hard to know where to start. The dust made that decision an easy one. Getting a vacuum became my top priority! Thank goodness I had my mom around to help out, it made those few days following the vacation a little more bearable. It was also nice spending quality time with her. I haven't seen much of her since the fire and I'm so grateful she took part of her March break to lend me a hand. Her presence was the best gift she could have given me. Mommies are the best! I am also thankful for my weekend uniform formula. It might not be the weekend, but the next few days were spent in comfortable and functional clothing. This busy lady lived in sweaters, leggings and fuzzy slippers!

The Snuggle is Real

Full disclosure, this is not my greatest look. I've got yet another cold (third one this season), I've started packing away most of my clothes for the impending move and it is storming like crazy. So yeah, I kind of reached for a mishmash of clothing today and this is the look I ended up with. The reason I am posting it is simple. I am not perfect and I have off days too. Hopefully things start settling soon and I can get back to a semblance of normal life.

Poncho Punch

Ok, upon second thought, the white jeans was not a great match for the (mostly) white poncho... I do like the monochromatic look, it's a great weekend outfit option. Not too fussy and gets you out the door quickly. I was yet again running errands this weekend. This time, we were on a hunt for bathroom mirrors. I had general ideas in mind for all three bathrooms and was lucky enough to find two that matched my visions. Two down, one to go! Once I got home, I took a small break and caught up on my shows for the week. The cozy poncho was great for lounging around, yet was put-together enough to go out in public. I like it when an outfit is both practical and presentable!

Feeling Blue

I was actually down with a nasty cold at the beginning of the month and felt poorly on this day. I figured blue represented my mood well. I obviously went with my usual weekend-uniform because it's my go-to comfy combo on any given weekend. I did not feel like thinking too hard or reinventing the wheel... Really, the only reason I got dressed was to go to get medication and chicken soup. I was back in my PJs the minute I got home. Distressed denim with blue layers is a fool-proof combination. You really can't go wrong with mixing shades of blue.

More Knits Please

Here's another perfect example of my casual winter-dressing. The shirt might say less is more, but in winter, more layers is definitely the way to go! More knits, more socks, more hot drinks and more snuggles! I was all set in today's look, just add a couch, blanket, a couple puppies and a hot cup of tea to create that perfect relaxing setting. It's hygga all the way!

Presently Pampering

I took a day before Christmas to pamper myself. I booked a long massage had a good soak in a bath with Epsom salt and a festive bath bomb. I then gave myself a mani/pedi at home while watching Christmas movies. There is no better start to the Holidays than by taking time for yourself and resting. It's the present I gave myself! I do a full-blown pedicure once a month, foot soak and everything! It's a bit of a ritual and I love doing it! It forces me to sit down and stay put while my feet are soaking and while the nail polish dries. Proper foot care is very important to me as it is easy to neglect those little piggies... By taking time for myself before all the parties and family gatherings, I makes sure I'm good to go! I decided to wear comfy leggings and a drapey sweater. Comfy and cozy was the theme of the day! Sorry for the fresh face and messy hair, today was all about feeling good, no so much looking good!

Boxing Bay

For once, I did not shop for clothing on Boxing Day... We've got an entire house to furnish. We're holding off on buying any furniture until we move in, that way we can have a real feel for the space before making any decisions. We will however need a few essentials upon move-in day. Trying to think practically and logically, we figured pots, dishes and utensils were a good place to start. A new kitchen is sort of useless unless you have something to cook and eat from. Off to the Bay we went! It was perfect timing and we took advantage of the great sales. I can check that tiny thing off my never-ending list...

Casual Sparkle

Even if you are staying at home for a low-key New Year's Eve, it dosen't mean your outfit has to be boring. Today's look is a perfect example on how to add shimmer and shine in a cozy, effortless way. I picked a pink colour palette and started with some burgundy leggings. I added a blush metallic t-shirt and a boyfriend cardigan with sequin accents. Throw on a big pair of cable-knit socks and you are good to go for an evening of watching the Times Square Ball drop from the comfort of your own couch! Don't forget the bubbly!
