To Grey the Least

Leggings and a tunic is a great combination! I opted for black coated leggings and my seafoam sweater today. Seeing as it was still a bit chilly I added my suede OTK boots and grey suede moto jacket with a faux-fur stole. It was just the right layers to keep me comfortable and not too warm. I have to say, my spring dressing has been right on the money this year. So far, I've been able to maneuver the fluctuating mercury and finding the right balance with my outfits. Hopefully the streak continues!

Fuzzy Floral

In keeping with the theme lately, today's look is another option for that in-between season weather. Slowly start incorporating floral prints in your looks again. I paired my floral pencil skirt with thicker, darker shaded pieces. A purple tunic sweater, grey tights and a grey suede jacket help tone down the pastel print of the skirt. This look is perfectly balanced. I've got a hint of spring, making me optimistic, while keepin' it real and staying warm with crafty layering.

Fur and Fractals

I've been wearing a lot of varying shades of blue, purple and grey as of late. I guess this palette is not revolutionary in the dead of winter... My partner referred to me as the "Ice Queen" when he saw my look today. You know what, he does have a point. With my newly blond hair, I definitely get slight Elsa vibes in this outfit. Sure, she doesn't wear fur, but it would obviously be cold enough for some fuzzy layers in her ice castle. I really like adding faux-fur colars to my outfits. They add a touch of luxuriousness, and what girl doesn't like to feel like royalty? I also like their versatility. Elevate your simple look with one easy add-on! I'll admit it is a bit on the bold side of style, but if you have the confidence to wear one. Go for it!

TBT - Beige Bundle

Have a cute lace summer dress? Not sure how to wear it all year round? Well, look no further than today's outfit! By adding warm layers in the same colour palette, you can create a very cozy look with your lace dress. I added tights, a cardigan, a fur stole, a belt and booties in varying shades of grey, taupe and beige to create a soft but warm winter look. I really like wearing grey monochromatic looks, even in winter. The palette really speaks to the natural colours of the season. How would you adapt a lace summer dress for winter wearing?

Jacquard, d'accord!

Today's look is a little mix of everything. Layering, prints, textures, colours; you name it, this look has it! I love the subtle festive feeling of these pants, the tone-on-tone jacquard adds a certain richness to the fabric. I then opted to wear a red plaid shirt, figuring the pants would make the blue in the shirt stand out. I topped it off with a white ruffle knit sweater. To stick with the glamorous vibe, I added a navy faux-fur stole and patent navy pumps to the mix. These shoes are heavenly! It hard to find a nice, classic navy pump and these Badgley Mischka's have the cutest hint of bling on the heel! The heel is only three inches instead of my go-to four inches so that makes them a great everyday shoe. Seeing as they are patent, and have some bling, they are also a perfect formal shoe. I love finding versatile pieces and these babies were on the clearance rack at Nordstrom! It was meant to be!

Cool Shorts

I love layering; that's no secret. But what people tend to forget about it is that layering is not only for the top half of the body. I'm a huge fan of wearing skirts with tights in the winter, so it's not a far stretch to wear shorts with tights, right? The only tricky part is that I personally feel this technique works best with thicker material shorts, and darker colours. I got these Banana Republic shorts last summer, but did not get a chance to wear them before the fire... They came back from the cleaners (tag still on) and I decided to grab them during my fall selection, hoping I would finally have the opportunity to wear them. Since the material is on the thicker side, and the cool colour palette lends itself well to dropping temperatures, I styled them with patterned tights and a cable-knit sweater. The icy grey sweater and darker grey tights help make the shorts the true focus of the outfit. I added a pop of colour with the pendant to tie the look together. I know it's unconventional, but I like how this trick helps me get away with wearing shorter shorts at work. The tights keep it all appropriate, since no skin in showing. It's less chocking to the more conservative. I would still suggest you proceed with caution before trying out this technique at work. Make sure to check your dress-codes...

TBT - Navy Fur Real

Wow, the pairing of an ivory lace blouse with a beige faux-fur stole is giving off some major vintage vibes! I like it! I really liked the turn of the 19th century fashions (think Downton Abbey and Anne of Green Gables). I love how extravagant some of the fashions were! There were lots of textural elements in the form of lace, fur, silk, feathers and pearls. This look is my take on a modern-vintage monochromatic look! The cuts and shapes of the garments are modern, while some elements are reminiscent of vintage styles. A little trick I used here is that I pinned the stole's ribbons to the inside of a blazer. I creatively combined two pieces to make a new one!
