Chambray Bouquet

Today's printed pants (I know... Again! ) are very similar to yesterday's except that these pants have a dense floral print while yesterday's was more sparse. These ones also have a satiny finish, which gives them that little sheen. The floral mixed with a sheen can be a bit dressy, but I wanted to tone that down and paired them with a chambray shirt for a casual feel. I also decided to knot the shirt in the front for that effortless chic vibe. Add some strappy sandals and bright earrings for a fun twist. This look will take you from 9 to 5 to happy hour without a hitch!

In Full Bloom

Forget bloomers (if anyone still wears them...) because these bloomin' pants are where it's at! I mean, hello colour! I'm absolutely smitten with this oversized floral watercolour print. The blues, purples and pinks really pop on that white background. These pants are striking for all the right reasons, not to mention their impeccable fit! So, the pants being the obvious focal point of today's look, I paired them with pastel shades of some of the bolder colours found in the print. Baby blue, blush pink and lavender were all added as a muted combination to allow the pants to take centre stage. I did add a couple pops of bold colour with the shoes and necklace. I feel each and every element of this look brings something to the table, without overshadowing another. A perfectly harmonious look for such a serene print!

TBT - Spots and Stripes

Since I'm on a printed-pants bender, I figured I'd post a throwback look featuring, you guessed it, printed pants! I stuck with the navy and white palette. A classic Breton striped top with a small geometric print jeans is a match made in heaven! The pants provide the perfect background for the top to be the centre of attention. The busy small print tricks the eye into thinking it's a solid, while allowing the focus to be on the stripes. Go ahead and play tricks on your eyes by mixing your prints!

Shedding a Layer

I have decided it is now officially ok not to wear tights or nylons. The snakeskin print inspired me to do like the snake, and get rid of that second skin! It's time to free those legs, ladies! Sun's out, legs out! Snakes... Sun... I bet it's easy to see what elements inspired today's outfit. A bright mustard pencil skirt paired with, not one, but two snakeskin prints (top and shoes) and neutral accents to round off the look. Snakeskin being an animal print makes it a neutral in my book, so I figured why not wear a double dose of it? I'm slithering into my spring style slowly, but surely!

Black Maxi Woman

What's long, ribbed and black? Why this maxi dress, of course! This dress is incredibly comfortable; you can't go wrong with a ribbed knit in terms of comfort. The only thing to look out for is the clinginess. This fabric really hugs your every curve. With its thigh slit and form-fitting material, this dress must be worn with confidence. If you are second guessing yourself, you won't be able to pull it off. Own that shape! I have to admit that I don't love my every angle in this dress, but hey, I'm not the one looking at them, right? What I do like is the balance obtained by toning down the vavoom of the slit with long sleeves and a turtle neck. Showing skin is ok, as long as it's done moderately. On a whole, I love this dress! Never has sexy been so comfy!

Forest Floral

I'm kind of having a thing for printed pants lately... I just find them so delightful and inspiring. A well-tailored pant infused with a fun print brings them to life! Printed tops also work when adding interest to a look, but I feel printed bottoms give it that extra bang! The print is more often in movement when you walk, so it becomes more of a focal point. I'm also a big fan of colour and prints that allow me to wear a bunch of colours at once, while remaining put together... I express myself through my style and I like to think my personality as is colourful and interesting as the prints I wear! Never a dull moment with me!

Sugar Rush

One of my favourite springtime traditions is to go to the sugar shack to get my fill of maple syrup for the year! We tend to gather a big group of people and proceed to stuffing our faces until we end up in a sugar coma... It's simple, pour maple syrup on everything in your plate and chow down! Believe me when I say everything tastes better with maple syrup! After the pea soup, eggs, potatoes, sausages, ham, oreilles de crisse, beans, pancakes and sugar pie, it's time for maple taffy! We roll ourselves from the table to the outer shed where we are handed a popsicle stick to roll our very own glob of maple taffy. There truly is no better feeling than sitting in the warm spring sun, licking maple taffy off a stick. A true Canadian experience!

Denim Duo

I love wearing denim on denim. The trick in making the match work is to mix varying washes of denim, as opposed to trying to match them perfectly. In today's look I chose to wear dark washed skinny jeans with a white denim jacket. This really works because, at first glance, you don't notice that both garments are denim. The look is harmonious and the denim garments are not competing or clashing with one another. I added a pastel peplum print cami to give my look a nice springtime feel. Mixing and matching denim is not as tricky as it seams! Give it a go!

Head Over Heels

I've been waiting for the weather to warm up a bit so that I could wear these fringe sandals! I mean, how cute are they? And that colour: perfection! Banana Republic nailed these Aquazzura inspired sandals. Seeing as they are a fun shoe, I decided to kick off my spring dressing by pairing them with these bright patterned pants. The green of the shoes picks up nicely on the green in the print. Seeing as the bottom half of the outfit had a lot going on, I kept the top half more muted with a mint sweater and ivory neck-tie blouse. I definitely had a spring in my step today!

TBT - Purple Plaid

You can't go wrong with a wool plaid mini skirt. This is a timeless print that will always be in style. The colour palette in today's skirt is blues and purples. I opted for a graige (gray and beige) top and tights and finished off with a purple cardigan. The graige elements seem to have a purple undertone so they all work well with the skirt. This was an early winter look and I felt the palette was both warm and comforting.

Spring Has Sprung

Oh my gosh guys, I think this is it! I have the feeling spring is finally here! I can't explain it, but something inside of me is sure this is for real! Spring has officially sprung! Time to bust out the pastels, florals and white sneakers. I love the freshness in the air and the morning sun caressing my face. I can't wait for the trees to come alive and for the flowers to bloom. It has been a long time coming and I am excited it has finally arrived.

Trusty Chambray

Chambray shirts are the best! They are so versatile, and appropriate for almost any occasion. In today's look, I dressed it up a bit by going the preppy route. Add some jeans and a blazer and the look really comes together. Finish off with cute bow pumps, a marbled necklace and a bright belt to give it some flair. I feel this shirt can take you from business casual to monkey business and every business in between! If you don't already have a chambray shirt, I strongly suggest investing in one as soon as possible. Trust me, you will get a lot of wear out of it!

More or Less

Some Mondays are harder than others. Especially when you think winter is over, but wake up to a snow-covered ground on April 11... Here I was, hoping to finally put away my boots and start wearing cute shoes again. No such luck today! I automatically reached for my black OTK boots and paired them with a black blazer and grey t-shirt. Drab, monochromatic look it is today; to match the weather, of course! The "Less is more... more please!" saying rings true as it is exactly how I feel. Less snow, more spring please! Here's to hoping the message was received loud and clear!

Lounging in my Lulus

So after I went for a run this morning, I basically changed into fresh workout clothes... Who else wears their workout gear for working out AND lounging? I like to think I'm not the only one. Workout gear is so comfortable! It's awesome for a sweat session but, in my book, it is equally the clothing of choice for bumming around on the weekends. I mean, stretchy, non-constricting clothing is the best for those movies/munchies marathons, am I right? After all, I have to replenish my energy after that run! ;) Everything in moderation!

PJ Likeness

After the whirlwind that was last weekend, all I want to do this weekend is relax! Plus, I have to do a bit of catching up on laundry and a few shows. I really wanted to spend all day in my pj's, but I convinced myself to get dressed. I was clearly not venturing too far off the pj route though... A graphic tee and soft pants it is! This get-up would definitely be comfortable enough to sleep in, but is technically not pj's. Mission accomplished! Now, for a bit of laundry sorting and folding...

Stripes Aplenty

I might have gone a little overboard on the stripes today... I mixed some skinny vertical stripes with bold, irregular horizontal ones. I was then only satisfied with my print mixing once I added the checked blanket scarf... I managed to wear a strapless summer dress by pairing it with a poncho, over-the-knee boots and a cozy scarf. Have I mentioned I'm getting antsy for spring?

TBT - Falling for Fall

Seeing as spring is having a hard time springing, I figured I'd do a throwback to a fall look. I am always tempted to wear more oranges, reds and yellows in the fall. It must have something to do with the leaves changing... There is something so comforting about those warm earth tones. I stuck with the simple jeans and a t-shirt uniform and infused it with pops of orange. This scarf is such a statement piece that I simply needed a neutral backdrop to make it pop! I tied the look together by adding a couple other hints of the bright shade. All set to go frolic in the falling leaves! Here's to hoping the trees start budding soon so that there will be colourful leaves next fall...

Splash of Colours

Rainy days call for bright clothing. Dreary grey skies and endless downpours can really affect my mood. Wearing splashes of colour helps keep my spirits up! The building block of my look is my rubber boots. I then selected some camel jeans and a Breton striped top. The chartreuse belt and bubblegum pink cardigan we chosen for their peppiness! With all these stripes and colours, I have to say I kind of feel like the rainbow that appears in the sky after a storm. Every time I see a rainbow, I am reminded that nature is beautiful and full of colour! Don't ever let a grey day get you down, always remember the rainbow!

Spot On!

I really like pairing my mini skirts with sweaters. I feel it creates a less bulky look. The print of the skirt and the frills of the sweater are both elements that bring a touch of whimsy to the look. They are girly without being childish. No one says spots and ruffles are reserved for little girl clothes only. Grown women can wear these too, it's just a matter of incorporating them in a mature way. I brought the look into adulthood by adding a string of pearls, black tights and t-strap pumps. I always feel very dressed up when I wear tights and pumps. Something about the combination screams "business woman". I might not be a business women, but let me tell you: this woman means business!

Ebony and Ivory

Ah, you can't go wrong with a black and white outfit. This combination will always remain timeless! I can't remember the last time it was this cold in April. The polar vortex is sure messin' with my dressin'. I chose to wear my ivory sweater dress with a black waist belt, black tights and black boots. I kept things really simple and by wearing all black, except for the dress. All that black really frames the dress and makes it stand out. For the outside look, I grabbed my black cape and an oversized checked blanket scarf. The loose shape of the cape is a great contrast to the fitted sweater dress. Playing with proportions can result is some fun effects! When in doubt, wear black and white and play with the proportions to keep the look interesting.
