Mimi Takes Five - #33

ONE // Wedding Favours
I still have a few things to do before next Saturday, but we are in great shape. Luckily, the wedding favours is something I checked off my list a few weeks ago. Without saying what it is exactly (to keep the surprise for our guests), it's a little something useful that is on theme. There was a creative aspect to prepping them as shown in the picture that involved stamping labels and using twine. All elements that are central to the theme of the wedding. I didn't realize just how crafty I was until I started planning a wedding and doing a lot of things myself. I like the organic, hand-on approach and think it's important to spend time on every guest! This is one of the small ways I am trying to be guest-centric.

TWO // You Me Oui Sweater
Ok, full disclosure, I got this Banana Republic sweater in the fall and have already worn it a few times. I actually wore it for my bachelorette! I just think the saying on it is perfectly wedding-y! Seeing as I'm in full-on wedding mode these days, I've been wearing this sweater all the time! It's the best casual thing for the bride to wear in the run-up to her winter wedding! I'm really milking this bride thing! You're only a bride once (at least, I plan on it!)

THREE // Mary Poppins Returns
From the moment I first heard of the Mary Poppins sequel, I could barely contain my excitement! I am also very pleased with the casting of Emily Blunt in the main role! However, I have yet to get around to seeing it in theaters. I sure hope it's still playing after my wedding, because I really don't want to miss out on this one! Julie Andrews' Mary Poppins was practically perfect in every way and filled my childhood with happy memories while Saving Mr. Banks filled-in the back story on the making of the movie so this next Mary Poppins movie is a must see in my book! In the meantime, I leave you with the trailer!

FOUR // Quilted Vests
Winter dressing is all about layering and one of my favourite layers is the quilted vest. I have a handful in different colours and can't live without them! These are from Old Navy and they are affordable, light weight and come in a bunch of colours! I added burgundy and powder pink to my collection this year because I am loving these hues and am wearing them constantly! The great thing about these vests is that they provide an extra layer on your core and don't add bulkiness on the arms, making it easier to layer under a winter coat! The real mastery of layering is managing to accomplish it without creating too much bulk!

FIVE // Wedding Invite
I figure I can reveal one of the details prior to next weekend: my wedding invitation! I worked tirelessly on these beauties from the conception to the execution. It was quite the process, but I am so proud of the way they turned out! I special ordered paper, got them cut from my template, scored, folded, embossed, stamped, punched, printed, glued, layered and sealed until my fingers were numb! I don't even want to venture a guess on the amount of hours it took me to make 50 of these, but it's definitely over 35! I did love every minute of it thought, my creative self was over the moon! I also loved hearing my guests describe to me how they went about breaking the seal! It surely proved a challenge to some! (P.S. I modified the information on the invite as to keep the details under wraps.)
