Shiny and Bright

It's hard not to feel Holiday-ready when wearing sequin pants! How crazy are these? I mean, could they be any more blingy? I was super excited to get these pants on major clearance last winter and am ecstatic to finally get to wear them! I was daring enough to wear this look to work... What can I say, I like taking fashion risks! Other than the fact they are 100% sequin-covered, they are nice black pants. I paired them with a mesh turtleneck top and camisole combo. I obviously added the red cardigan to achieve my goal of wearing red every day in December. Since all the bling was below the waist, I decided to wear a shiny statement bib necklace. At this time of the year my motto is: Go bling or go home!

Red Hot Leather

Who ever said buffalo plaid can only be casual? I decided to pull it out of its woodsy-inspired funk and give it a whole new life. In comes the leather dress! I buttoned up the shirt all the way and wore it under my dress, so that only sections of the print are visible. I added a statement waist belt, for that extra bad-girl vibe and finished off with patterned tights and metallic booties. Add a bold red lip to pick up on the red of the shirt and you have one bad-ass look! My buffalo plaid shirt never looked so glam. Sometimes, it's nice to push your pieces to their full potential. My little plaid shirt is so much more versatile than I ever thought it could be. I just had to push the boundaries and break the reflex of always styling it the same way. Do you have pieces you always seem to wear the same way? Try to consciously break that habit! The result can be really fun and unexpected! Go ahead and take risks!

TBT - Shining Bright

You honestly can't go wrong with red and bling for the festive season. I wore this about three years ago, and would still opt for this very outfit during the current holiday season. I actually still own all of the pieces from this look and it would be perfect for a more low-key family affair. It's dressy and festive, yet super comfy. It's basically skinny jeans with a loose-fitting tank and boyfriend blazer. These are all super-casual garments. It's your everyday formula, in festive colours and finishes. Super basic, yet spot-on!

Candy Cane Crush

Ok, I was clearly inspired by the traditional red and white candy-cane for today's look. Why not get inspired by a classic treat of the season? I've always liked the combination of red and white, it's clean, crisp and the pop of red gives it just the right contrast! I layered a striped shirt under my red sweater because I only wanted hints of the stripes. I then kept the rest of the outfit very muted and understated with light grey jeans and boots. I have to say, the combination of pigtails and stripes is giving me strong elf vibes... 'Tis the season after all!

Snow and Red

If you haven't picked up on it by now, I'll just point out that I'm challenging myself to wear red every day in December! It won't always be the main colour of my look, but it will be featured somehow. I realize I've only started posting them a bit after the start of the month, but I assure you I have been wearing red every day. Check my Instagram feed for reference! In today's look, red is very prominent. I woke up to a beautiful blanket of snow and was excited to finally have snow again. I hope it stays this time... I figured a red, black and white colour-blocked look would be the right fit for today! Is there anything more festive than a pop of red?

Clash of the Tartans

Confession: I love buffalo plaid so much, I layer it on top of itself! Obviously the red and black print does not clash with its counterpart self, right? The only reason this combination works is because I have one micro print and one macro print of the same print. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, or even work with every print, but I absolutely love this combination! I didn't stop there though. I simply had to add a striped top to the mix, just to drive the point home! If you're afraid of print, I suggest you look the other way because this might give you nightmares... I'm in the "all-or-nothing" camp, so the more the merrier!

Put a Bow on It!

Haha, I was totally inspired by gift-wrapping for today's outfit! The black bow against the red sweater totally makes the outfit! I mean, how else would one complete a holiday look? This white neck-tie blouse is one of my favourite purchases of all-time. I never realized just how much wear I'd get from it. It fits perfectly! It's long, but not tunic long; it's loose, but not baggy; it's off-white, so not too crisp and is perfect for layering under sweaters, dresses, blazers, overalls, you name it! It is definitely one of my wardrobe must-haves! I do "knot" know how I ever lived without it!

Day-to-Night Bling

Time to dust off the sequins and shimmery garments! I look forward to the Holiday season just so I can wear all of my best sparkly looks! This little black sequined mini is a staple in my festive-dressing arsenal. It's a few years old already, but is still totally on trend. Bonus: it's really comfortable to wear and always puts a smile on my face! How could you not smile when you shine like a disco ball? Sequins really bring me back to my dancing days: no costume was complete without a few hundred of these shiny bad boys! This was the outfit I wore to kick-off my festive calendar. I was attending the usual Christmas party at my favourite jewelry store followed by a viewing of the Nutcracker ballet! These traditional activities called for a versatile look. I needed something dressy, yet comfortable to sit in for a few hours. I figured I couldn't go wrong with a gingham shirt and cable-knit sweater combo! Why overcomplicate things?

Velvet? You bet!

I like velvet pants, they have the same comfy-factor as corduroy, but with a more luxurious appeal. They seem less kiddy and more grown-up. I guess you could say they are the version of adult cords... I also think the Pixie cut lends itself well to the velvet fabric. The fitted leg makes the material less bulky by being more form-fitting, the velvet really catches the light from every angle. Something I felt the velvet track suits from a few years ago seemed to lack. These pants are very versatile and will bring you from office party, to family board-game night! How would you wear velvet pants?

TBT - Crimson Leopard

Animal print can be festive too! Simply add a pop of seasonal colour along with the print and you'll be holiday-ready to party like an animal! Lame joke aside, leopard print suits itself well to holiday dressing. I usually see it as a neutral, but in this case, by layering it over a solid-coloured blouse, it really adds interest and tones down the red a bit. I was going for a hint of jolliness as opposed to a full-on Christmas look. Although it's tough to tell in the picture, I'm wearing black brocade pants. The tone-on-tone texture gives the pants a touch of luxury, which is perfectly suited for fancy dressing!
