Chartreuse Chills

I was right to dread going outdoors after the Holidays... It is bitterly cold out today (-36 degrees Celsius, to be exact!) I opted, or rather didn't really have a choice but to wear layers today. I chose a silky blouse underneath a thick knit sweater and basic skinny jeans. The layers you cannot see are a camisole and the double pairs of socks, one of which goes up to my knee under the jeans. The primary goal in getting dressed today was definitely warmth. Style was an afterthought. For the outdoor layer, I chose my grey Lululemon cocoon jacket because it is roomy enough to accommodate the bulky layers, is long enough to cover my bum and is a good wind-breaker. I pilled on the chunky knit beanie and double wrapped my blanket scarf. I also decided on the mittens my grandma knitted me over a decade ago as they are really warm. Even with all these layers, I was cold. The worst is when the air pinches your face. It's brutal! It's on days like today that I truly understand the concept of hibernating animals...
