Mimi Takes Five - #24

ONE // Design Party
So one of my friends was selling his collection during the one-year celebration of a local boutique (Habitude Design) and invited me to attend the event. I'm always down to check out the local talent and do a bit of shopping, so I was in! The boutique was chock-full of local goodies varying from dishware, to paper products, to jewelry, to baby gear, to clothing and accessories. There was really something for everyone! I brought along one of my girlfriends and we had a good laugh perusing the greeting cards. I love a good pun and these were so cheeky with their French-Canadian expressions! I got a good little selection that will sure make many people giggle. As much as I enjoy making cards, I always tend to gather a little stash whenever I find great ones. You never know when you'll need a great card! The mug is for the fiancĂ©. This is an expression he uses regularly, so I thought it was fitting. I also splurged a little on a unique piece from my friend's collection that will be perfect for the holidays! I can't wait to style it!

TWO // Lilac Sweater
Sweaters, sweaters and more sweaters! I cracked for this lilac beauty from Joe Fresh. The colour was calling my name! I used to have a cute lilac sweater but lost it in the fire, so I was really happy to come across this one! It's a thin knit that is perfect for layering and we all know how much I love to layer! It's also a really nice colour and changes things up a bit from the traditionally darker shades of fall and winter. It's surprisingly easy to mix and match and will be a great piece to add a bit of whimsy to any look!

THREE // Christmas Cards
As mentioned above, I love making my own Christmas cards every year. I've been doing it for at least the last eight years or so and love getting lost in the creative, crafting process! I put on Christmas movies and get to work. I get a little inspiration from Pinterest, but I mostly come up with the designs myself, based on the supplies I have at hand. I like to start making them as early as possible because it can be a little time consuming. I wasn't sure if I'd get around to it this year with the wedding planning taking up a lot of my time, but it's an important tradition to me, so I made the time for it. You always find the time to do what matters to you and this matters to me. I know my friends and family really appreciate them and have come to expect them, so I deliver! It's my small way of spreading cheer during the Holiday season.

FOUR // Fantastic Beasts Movie
Being the Harry Potter fan that I am, I can't help but be excited for the release of the second movie of the Fantastic Beast series: The Crimes of Grindelwald! We'll get to see a young Dumbledore, go back to Hogwarts and see plenty of magical action and creatures! I can't wait to delve back into this wonderful world! The movie comes out next Friday, November 16 and this is definitely one worth seeing in theatres! I only wish I could go see it with my brother, who's as big a fan as I am about this stuff. Plus, he has a better memory for details, so can always catch me up if I missed something. This is a movie that seems very promising!

FIVE // Burgundy Mani
I gave myself a burgundy manicure last weekend so that it would match my wedding-guest look. It's all in the details! Also, I've been wearing a lot of burgundy lately, so it was a bit of a no-brainer as a colour choice. It is bound to go with pretty much anything I wear in the next few days. I like to keep my nails painted and typically change it up every two weeks, sticking to seasonal shades. My mom was always done up and had beautiful natural nails (which I am happy to have inherited) and they were always polished. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree!
