Shimmer and Texture

I can't tell you all how happy I am to finally be wearing layers again. Layered looks are my life! They provide so much more scope for the imagination and have the bonus of keeping me warm. We really can't overlook that last bit. To say it gets cold in Canada would be an understatement: it gets really cold! Things are still manageable weather-wise, but I know far too well that the cold will just grow more bitter and nippy as the days go on. Sweater weather is about to get real! In the meantime, I am enjoying wearing cute shoes and light layers to get by.

For today's look, I reached for my gold shimmer sweater and paired it with my navy bow-tie shirt and red corduroy mini. The colour palette is neutral and comforting and the textures of the knit and skirt give the look dimension. I love mixing textures to keep things from looking too boring. I'm also betting this is probably the last time I'll get to wear these shoes because we are supposed to get snow overnight... It'll be boots everyday soon enough for this girl!
