Remembrance Red

I try not to jump straight into Christmas right after Halloween as I think it's important to observe Remembrance Day. Having family members in the Armed Forces, I am keenly aware of the risks and sacrifices that our ancestors undertook. Peace is unfortunately not a given in this world and we are reminded often just how quickly things can change. That is why I wear my poppy proudly at this time of year and really take the time to reflect on the past and to be thankful for my freedom. This fundamental right should not be overlooked or taken for granted. Although I still donate to the Legion's poppy drive, I decided to upgrade my poppy and purchased a beautiful enamel pin. Not only is it more secure, but it's also a great addition to my brooch collection. It's also a bit more sophisticated and unique. I wore red and black to match my poppy pin and underline the somber mood of the day.
